hell over paradise, heaven for metalheads

Tolmin, Slovenia hosted the 7th Metalcamp this year. A unique metal festival or "headbangers holidays" in the world brings together around 10.000 metalheads from all over the world. Metalcamp is a (metal) music enthusiast's dream: one-week summer festival with all the hottest bands, two stages, camping and beautiful venue. One week in a year the confluence of beautiful Soca and Tolminka rivers is a destination for all who live with metal music in their souls.

my "ticket to heaven" ;)

My last Metalcamp "fever" started just after it was announced that Paradise Lost, my favorite band would perform. Metalcamp is either way a great festival (and I'm so lucky that it takes place in my country!) and with Paradise Lost performing I couldn't wish more. Well, I could - Obituary would be performing as well, the "gods" of death metal, the band we all fell for in my earliest metal years.

My years of being a dedicated metal fan are over and I only pick up one day at Metalcamp but it remains in my soul and one day at Metalcamp is like my soul gets fed for one year. It feels so good to be part of this culture and express it once in a year. And I have the music for all other days :)

And my bands? Oh their performance was fantastic! Paradise Lost are really the best band ever, so damn good! Every new album is the best and their live performance is outstanding. They had great songs lineup at MC and Nick Holmes had the best quote: "Look at those fucking mountains! They're beautiful!" I'll never forget :) And Obituary - they're as powerful as 20 years ago and their rhythm is still unbeatable. Real "gods of death"!

Heaven, not hell over paradise, I tell ya!
